Job summary

NY STATE ELECTRIC & GAS CORP is seeking a Senior Engineer - Protection & Control in Rochester, NY to design and configure automation, data collection, protection, and control equipment subsystems for our electric delivery infrastructure.

You will lead protection studies, coordinate with contractors, analyze fault events, and ensure NERC compliance across projects, while working on-site in the Rochester area with opportunity for related locations.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or equal.
Greater than 5 years' experience in electrical substations, transmission systems, distribution systems operations up to 345kV, or protection and control design and construction.
Familiarity with Brownfield electromechanical relay substation.
Knowledge of OSHA, IEEE, IEC, NFPA, NETA, and NERC.
Advanced understanding of fault calculations, protective coordination, and fault analysis software.

Responsibilities

Perform relay settings design and relay coordination analysis for protection systems in transmission/substation projects.
Lead engineers/contractors performing protection system settings for capital projects.
Analyze disturbance events and deliver fault analysis reports with corrective actions.
Lead NERC compliance programs applicable to substation assets and support audits.
