Job summary

Ursa Major seeks a Senior Systems Engineer for the SMS Systems & Mission Team to advance safety, reliability, and risk management across propulsion systems. You will partner with engineering, mission operations, design, test, and program teams to ensure safety and successful mission execution of fielded rocket motors, while coordinating with DoD Safety Review Boards.

Requirements include a BS in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Systems Engineering, 4+ years in safety or mission assurance, and the

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical, Aerospace or Systems Engineering or related field.
• 4+ years of experience in system safety, mission assurance, or systems engineering.
• Experience with solid rocket motors, propulsion systems, or defense aerospace programs.
• Familiarity with risk analysis methods (FMEA, FHA, probabilistic risk assessment).
• Eligible for Secret Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement mission assurance processes for product reliability and safety.
• Interact with safety boards and prepare motor qualification plans and test reports for approvals.
• Lead hazard classification planning and approvals for motor shipments and fielding.
• Maintain risk registers and present to internal and external stakeholders.
• Define system safety requirements for product design and conduct FMEA/FHA analyses.
• Lead failure investigations and reliability assessments of motor products.
