Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Senior Proposal Engineer to develop high-level architectures and ROM costs for cryogenic test systems and facilities supporting our space vehicles. You will design fluids and structural systems, coordinate with suppliers, and mentor junior engineers through peer reviews and teaching of design principles.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree or higher in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent.
• 10+ years of experience designing complex structural and/or fluids systems within a safety critical environment.
• Demonstrated ability in fluid analysis and piping design including process component selection and process fluid design architecture.
• In depth knowledge of fluid system components (i.e. valves, regulators and pumps for cryogenics, propellants, and other fluids).
• Knowledge of ASME codes.

Responsibilities

• Own the preliminary design and cost estimation of high-pressure gas and cryogenic test systems.
• Write formal memos summarizing trade studies and test stand architecture selection.
• Coordinate with test article owners on refinement of project scope and requirements.
• Lead Process Hazard Analysis activities for fluid systems (HAZOP).
• Manage suppliers and coordinate cost, schedule, and technical design requirements.
• Provide remote and on-the-ground support during fabrication, installation, and start up of new facilities or upgrades.
• Mentor newer engineers and perform peer reviews.
