Job summary

Blue Origin LLC is seeking a Senior Proposal Engineer to design high-level architectures and ROM costs for cryogenic test systems supporting space vehicles. You will coordinate with suppliers, refine project scope, and lead hazard analyses while mentoring junior engineers.

The role requires a strong background in fluids and structural design, leadership in technical teams, and clear communication to diverse audiences. U.S. citizenship or permanent residency is required for security clearances.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree or higher in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Science, or equivalent.
• 10+ years designing complex structural and/or fluids systems in safety-critical settings.
• Proven ability in fluid analysis and piping design including component selection and architecture.
• Knowledge of valves, regulators, pumps for cryogenics and propellants.
• Familiarity with ASME B31.3 and ASME BPVC codes and fabrication methods.
• Leadership or mentorship experience in technical teams.
• Strong written and verbal communication for broad audiences.
• U.S. citizenship, permanent residency, or equivalent status.

Responsibilities

• Own preliminary design and cost estimation of high-pressure gas and cryogenic test systems.
• Write memos summarizing trade studies and stand architecture selections.
• Coordinate with test article owners to refine scope and requirements.
• Lead Process Hazard Analysis for fluid systems (HAZOP).
• Manage suppliers and coordinate cost, schedule, and design requirements.
• Provide remote and on-site support during fabrication, installation, and startup.
• Mentor engineers through peer reviews and reviews of designs.
