The North Carolina Department of Revenue is seeking a Manager Property Tax to lead the Personal Property Unit within the Local Government Division. The role focuses on supervising staff, ensuring timely updates to cost indexes and depreciation schedules, and overseeing the VTS program and related workshops.

The position requires extensive property tax knowledge, strong leadership and communication skills, and the ability to coordinate education and training activities for assessors and staff.

Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge and experience in property tax assessment and administering the statutes within the machinery act.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills while delivering communications clearly and concisely.

Responsabilités

• Manage the Personal Property Section and staff, ensuring tasks are completed.
• Update the Cost Index, Depreciation Schedules, and Billboard manual annually and provide to counties.
• Teach Personal Property, auditing workshops, Billboard workshops, and VTS workshops.
• Oversee the VTS program (Tag and Tax) and the VTS staff, including budgeting.
• May serve as head of the Change Control Board as directed by Local Government Director.
• Oversee continuing education cycles, administer assessor exams, and develop the education calendar.
