Job summary

The North Carolina Department of Revenue is recruiting for a Manager Property Tax in our Local Government Division. The primary purpose is to head the Personal Property Unit of the Property Tax Section. You will lead staff, coordinate workshops, and ensure timely updates of key tax schedules and programs.

The role requires extensive property tax knowledge, strong communication, and supervisory experience. This position offers competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits in North Carolina.

Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge of property tax assessment and administering statutes within the machinery act
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in a clear and concise manner
• Experience in supervising staff and managing units

Responsibilities

• Manage the Personal Property Section and staff in the personal property and VTS sections
• Ensure Cost Index and Depreciation Schedules and Billboard manuals are updated annually and provided to counties
• Teach classes and coordinate workshops for Personal Property, auditing, Billboard, and VTS programs
• Oversee the VTS program (Tag and Tax), supervise its staff, and manage the budget
• May serve as head of the Change Control Board as directed by Local Government Director
• Oversee continuing education cycles, assessor exams, and education calendar
