Job summary

The North Carolina Department of Revenue is seeking a Revenue Administration Officer III (NS) to lead the Personal Property Unit within the Local Government Division in Raleigh. The role heads the Property Tax section, overseeing staff, budgets, and program delivery of tax assessment workflows.

Candidate will manage education calendars, supervise staff across multiple workshops, and ensure annual updates to cost indices and depreciation schedules, with a focus on compliance and training

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business/Public Administration, Economics, Accounting or related field.
• Five years of experience in tax accounting and auditing work including two years in administrative or supervisory capacity.
• Eligible for federal and state criminal background checks and fingerprinting; documentation of education and experience on application.

Responsibilities

• Manage the Personal Property Section and staff within the unit.
• Ensure Cost Index, Depreciation Schedules and Billboard manual are updated annually.
• Teach Personal Property, auditing, Billboard, and VTS workshops as needed.
• Oversee the VTS program (Tag and Tax) and staff; manage budget.
• May serve as head of Change Control Board as directed.
• Administer continuing education cycles and assessor exams; develop education calendar.
