Job summary

Travelers is seeking a Risk Control Senior Specialist, Property, to deliver expert risk engineering guidance onsite and with clients regionally. You will support underwriting with risk insights, mentor junior staff, and enhance risk reduction strategies through detailed evaluations and training.

Ideal candidates hold a bachelor’s in engineering/science, 6+ years of risk assessment experience, and professional certifications such as PE or CFPS.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a science or engineering discipline.
• Six+ years of risk assessment/consulting experience in property risk control.
• Valid driver's license.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Coaching and talent development skills.
• Expert understanding of risk control in commercial lines insurance.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a consistent field presence, spending 20–50% of the time with customers, onsite or virtual.
• Travel to customers, potentially long-distance and multi-night trips.
• Conduct risk evaluations of high-complexity customers and identify exposures and loss controls.
• Share findings with Underwriting to support risk pricing.
• Mentor Risk Control consultants and specialists to support development.
• Review survey reports for accuracy and guide newer Specialists.
• Attend industry conferences to stay current and deliver targeted trainings.
