Job summary

Markel is seeking an Executive Risk Solution Specialist to support loss control and risk engineering across property, inland marine, and ocean marine lines. You will work with Underwriting, Claims, and RSS teams to assess risks, write detailed reports, and drive risk reduction actions.

The role requires a strong background in property and marine risk control, plus experience with NFPA/IBC standards. Expect about 25% travel and ongoing technical training responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required.
• 6+ years property, inland marine, and ocean marine loss control/risk management experience.
• Strong knowledge of NFPA, FM Global, IBC standards.
• US work authorization.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Underwriting to select, retain, and grow a profitable book of business across markets.
• Build and maintain productive relationships with Underwriting, Claims, RSS Team, Brokers and stakeholders.
• Develop and maintain risk control reports, report forms and other documents to support property loss control growth.
• Aid RSS and underwriting leadership in developing guidelines for when to use loss control.
• Serve as subject matter expert in inland marine/property and complete on-site, virtual and desktop risk assessments.
• Identify and communicate risks, exposures, and controls to reduce loss and aid underwriting decisions.
• Write detailed risk assessment reports with clear recommendations.
• Assist with risk control vendor utilization and quality control.
• Prepare and deliver technical training to team members and underwriters.
• Stay current with technical subjects, regulatory environment, and emerging issues.
• Collaborate with team on special projects; support multi-line surveys and travel ~25%.
• Manage workload and document work requests; learn new technologies for assessment and reporting.
