Essex-Property-Trust seeks a General Manager in the San Jose area to drive financial performance, operational excellence, and resident satisfaction across a portfolio of properties. The GM leads a diverse team and ensures regulatory compliance and alignment with Essex standards.

The role requires strong financial acumen, expert leadership of managers, and the ability to translate strategy into action—overseeing budgets, vendor management, relocations, leasing, and community upkeep to deliver

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; BA/BS preferred.
• 5+ years of community management experience with 2+ years of supervisory experience.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the highest level of customer service for prospects, residents, and on-site and corporate departments.
• Oversee resident experience from tour to move-out, including relocations, leasing, events, service requests and community upkeep.
• Lead and manage responses to resident surveys and external reviews to maintain Essex standards.
• Manage budgets, financial reporting, and ensure completion of assigned financial targets.
