Essex Property Trust, Inc. is seeking a General Manager in Emeryville to drive financial performance, operational excellence, and resident satisfaction across a property portfolio.

You will lead a diverse team, oversee budgets, and ensure compliance while delivering service excellence from move-in to move-out. This full-time on-site role requires strong leadership and a passion for community management.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; BA/BS degree preferred.
• 5+ years of community management experience with 2+ years supervisory experience.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to write reports, manuals, speeches, and articles; present persuasively.
• Ability to motivate and negotiate effectively with staff and clients.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of managers, specialists, and maintenance staff.
• Meet budgeted revenue and expense targets and report variances.
• Oversee the resident lifecycle from tours to move-out and satisfaction.
• Maintain Essex standards in purchases, work orders, and vendor management.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement new initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with Fair Housing, Landlord-Tenant regulations, and OSHA.
