Job summary

Selective Insurance seeks a Property Claims professional to handle large and complex Property and Inland Marine claims, typically $100,000 and above. Investigate, estimate damages, deploy experts, secure documentation, and settle within authority and standards.

The role requires clear communication, deep coverage knowledge across Commercial and Personal Lines, proficiency with Xactimate, and willingness to travel up to 50% as needed. A Bachelor's degree and adjuster license are preferred.

Qualifications

• Must have 5 years of property claims experience.
• Thorough knowledge of Commercial and Personal Lines coverages.
• Experience with Xactimate or other damage estimating software.
• Must possess or secure and maintain state adjuster license(s) and a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and resolve coverage issues for commercial and residential property and inland marine claims for the assigned region, with availability to assist in other regions.
• Handle coverage determinations, negotiations, reserving, and settlements within authority, including complex business income losses.
• Provide required reports to Claims leadership, Underwriting, Reinsurance, and Actuarial on significant exposure cases.
• Assist/deploy for CAT duty as needed (minimum two weeks).
• Manage vendors and expenses efficiently.
• Report on cases going to trial and attend proceedings when required by management.
• Ensure referrals and timely updates to reinsurer(s).
• Travel approximately 25–50% of time.
