Job summary

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey is seeking a Senior Project Manager within the Capital & Infrastructure Planning Unit to lead planning efforts in support of the Port Department’s infrastructure needs.

Responsibilities include scoping and managing studies under the Port Master Plan 2050, evaluating future road, rail, waterway and utility needs, reviewing outputs, conducting site visits in NY/NJ, and coordinating with stakeholders and external agencies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in transportation/logistics, urban planning, business, public administration or related field.
• 7+ years of experience in a governmental or private business setting in port/maritime, transportation/logistics, railroad operations, land use planning or related field.
• Must pass Federal Security Background Check and obtain TWIC to work in a maritime environment as required by DHS.
• Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently while meeting milestones and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning efforts, including scoping, finalizing, and managing procurement and execution of follow-on studies identified in the Port Master Plan 2050.
• Support initiatives to identify future road, rail, waterway, and utility infrastructure needs.
• Review and evaluate technical work products and consultants’ deliverables.
• Conduct field work and site visits at Port facilities in New York and New Jersey.
• Represent the Port Authority in regional transportation studies and interagency groups, including occasional evening meetings.
• Support NYNJR through projects, including procurement, data analysis, and reports.
• Oversee the Port Department Call-In Contract process, develop scopes, budgets, and manage contracts.
• Develop and maintain relationships with external stakeholders (US Army Corps of Engineers, Conrail, agencies, tenants).
• Manage select contracts and the Board Authorization process, track expenses, process invoices.
