Job summary

City of New York is seeking an Associate Project Manager to join the Program Management Unit – Engineering and Support Services’ Front-End Planning – DEP/DOT Coordination teams. You will identify issues during scope development for capital infrastructure projects, including water, sewer, and roadway works, and coordinate with multiple city agencies.

The role requires strong analytical skills, ability to review designs, develop scopes, and lead presentations with stakeholders.

Qualifications

• One year of full-time experience supervising employees performing project management work on engineering/architectural/landscape projects with project value of $1,000,000+.
• Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, construction, or related field with one year PM experience in similar projects.
• High school diploma or equivalent plus five years' experience as described in (1) or an equivalent combination of education/experience to reach five years.
• An additional one year of supervisory or PM experience on large/complex projects is required beyond the basic qualification.
• An additional two years of supervisory or PM experience on large/complex projects is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review conceptual/schematic designs submitted by Sponsors and assist in developing final project scopes, cost estimates, and baselines.
• Conduct data assessment, site visits, and feasibility/constructability studies; propose alternatives.
• Prepare presentation materials and lead internal strategy meetings; coordinate with external stakeholders (DOT, DEP, DPR, OMB, City Hall, Community Boards, officials).
• Maintain project tracking in the agency database and transition projects into initiation.
