Summary

The Senior Project Manager is responsible for the overall direction, completion, and financial outcome for several concurrent projects, from pre‑construction to closeouts. The Sr PM leads and manages a team of project managers, assistant project managers, project engineers, and office engineers to deliver exceptional results. The position proactively develops new business opportunities and relationships with current and potential customers. Reports to the Division Manager.

Position Responsibilities
  • Establish project objectives, policies, procedures, and performance standards within the boundaries of corporate policies. Put these in clear concise work statement for the field. Complete Job Information Sheet (JIS)
  • Effectively supervise staff in the day‑to‑day administration of a job and/or supervise two or more project management staff in their daily tasks. Train and effectively supervise direct reports in the company philosophy and systems.
  • Review drawings for questions or changes to be submitted via RFI. Review RFI’s received from vendors and subcontractors.
  • Negotiate and supervise the preparation of all change orders on the project.
  • Develop project Schedule of Values (SOV)
  • Maintain all logs required to track the progress of the project.
  • Maintain liaison with prime client and A/E to facilitate construction activities.
  • Monitor construction activities in conjunction with the onsite Foreman and Division Superintendent to ensure project is being built on schedule, and within budgets.
  • Manage subcontractor activities including associated costs, schedule, and related change orders.
  • Investigate any potentially serious situations and implement corrective measures within company guidelines, and under supervision of Division Manager.
  • Represent company/project in meetings with client, subcontractors, etc.
  • Engage in business development.
  • Manage financial aspects of contracts (progress billing, rental equipment, income/expenses) to protect the company’s interest and simultaneously maintain a good relationship with the client.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Division Manager.
Education, Certification, Skills And/Or Abilities

Minimum Experience: 10+ years of experience in construction management, preferably in electrical construction. Degree: Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, Structural Engineering or other related discipline preferred; or equivalent experience. Certifications: California Driver’s License, OSHA 10. Salary Range: $165,000 – $185,000 annual salary DOE (Orange County). Location: OCSAN Jobsite Trailer.

Abilities Required

  • Knowledge of construction technology, cost management, scheduling, equipment, and methods required.
  • Advanced abilities in reading and interpreting plans and specifications.
  • In‑depth knowledge of the NFPA/NEC codes. Extensive knowledge of safety protocols and procedure.
  • Extensive experience managing electrical construction projects.
Business
  • Proficient in using a computer and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.); Procore a plus.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, changing priorities as necessary.
  • Ability to work under time pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude.
  • Problem‑solving skills with a proven ability to exercise initiative, judgment, and discretion.
  • Understanding of the financials of a project and how to forecast.
Interpersonal
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a high‑performing team.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships and negotiate effectively with team members, customers, consultants, vendors, and partners.
  • Business development / heavy client interaction.
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills. Spanish language skills a plus.
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Work is conducted primarily indoors with varying environmental conditions such as fluorescent lighting and air conditioning. May be sitting for long periods, standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing, and bending.
  • At a job site, may be exposed to potentially hazardous conditions.
  • The noise level is usually low to medium; it can be loud on a jobsite.
