Qualifications

  • Minimum 2+ years in a construction-related role, preferably electrical construction.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.
  • California Driver’s License and OSHA 10 certification.
  • Knowledge of NFPA/NEC codes and safety protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and monitor project objectives, policies, procedures, and performance standards within corporate policies. Reinforce these policies for the field.
  • Review drawings and specifications; submit RFIs; review RFIs from vendors and subcontractors.
  • Perform a constructability review coordinating between trades impacting electrical requirements.
  • Develop a spec extract to ensure material, equipment and subcontractors conform to updated specifications.
  • Maintain all project files and logs: submittals, RFIs, change orders.
  • Develop logs to track equipment and subcontractor deliverables for contract and schedule compliance.
  • Maintain document control drawing logs for field staff.
  • Assist with management of subcontractor activities including submittal management.
  • Review contract close out requirements and develop close out documents.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Project Manager.

Summary

The Project Engineer is an entry-level position and is expected to learn and develop competency in essential duties and responsibilities. In addition, the Project Engineer is responsible for providing administrative and construction support for our Project Management team. Reports to the Project Manager.

Position Responsibilities
  • Implement and monitor project objectives, policies, procedures, and performance standards within the boundaries of corporate policies. Reinforce these policies for the field.
  • Review drawings and specifications for questions or changes to be submitted via RFI. Review RFI’s received from vendors and subcontractors.
  • Perform a constructability review to coordinate between all trades that impact the electrical requirements.
  • Develop a spec extract to ensure material, equipment and subcontractors conform to current and updated specifications.
  • Maintain all job files and logs required to track the progress of the project, including submittals, RFI’s and change orders.

Education, Certification, Skills And/Or Abilities Required

Minimum Experience: 2+ years of experience in a construction-related role, preferably in electrical construction. Degree Required: Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, Structural Engineering or other related discipline preferred; or equivalent experience. Certifications: California Driver’s License, OSHA 10. Salary Range: $71,000 - $75,000 annual salary (exempt).

Abilities Required
Industry
  • Knowledge of construction technology, cost management, scheduling, equipment, and methods required.
  • Advanced abilities in reading and interpreting plans and specifications.
  • Knowledge of the NFPA/NEC codes. Familiarity with safety protocols and procedures.
Business
  • Proficient in using a computer and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Bluebeam skills (CAD and BIM) as well as Accubid and Procore a plus.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, changing priorities as necessary.
  • Ability to work under time pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude.
  • Problem-solving skills with a proven ability to exercise initiative, judgment, and discretion.
Interpersonal
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships and negotiate effectively with team members, customers, consultants, vendors, and partners.
  • Excellent english verbal and written communication skills. Spanish language skills a plus.
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Work is conducted primarily indoors with varying environmental conditions such as fluorescent lighting and air conditioning. May be sitting for long periods, standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing, and bending. At a job site, may be exposed to potentially hazardous conditions.
  • The noise level is usually low to medium; it can be loud on a jobsite.

The posted range represents the company’s good faith estimate of the base salary range for this role at the time of posting. Compensation will be determined based on factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, education, qualifications, skills, work location, union environment experience, and internal equity. This position may also be eligible for additional compensation, including bonuses, incentives, and benefits, where applicable.
