Electrical Project Manager / Senior Project Manager in Orange County

Arena Staffing has partnered with a confidential, growth-focused commercial electrical contractor in Orange County that is hiring an Electrical Project Manager / Senior Project Manager.

This is a high-impact project management opportunity for an experienced electrical construction professional who has successfully managed larger commercial or industrial electrical projects and understands both the operational and financial sides of the business.

The ideal candidate has personally managed $5M to $10M+ electrical projects, can take ownership from estimating turnover through final closeout, and is comfortable managing project financials, labor performance, procurement, change orders, schedules, field coordination, customer relationships, and project teams.

For the Senior Project Manager level, the company is looking for someone who can independently lead significant projects, mentor project staff, work directly with field leadership and customers, and protect project profitability while managing a substantial volume of work.

Role Snapshot

The Electrical Project Manager / Senior Project Manager will lead commercial and industrial electrical construction projects from estimating turnover through final completion and closeout.

This person will be responsible for project financial performance, budgets, forecasting, labor tracking, billing, procurement, schedule management, change orders, documentation, customer communication, field coordination, and overall project profitability.

The successful candidate should understand electrical construction well enough to work effectively with general contractors, owners, field leadership, vendors, inspectors, engineering teams, and internal leadership while proactively identifying project risk and keeping projects financially and operationally on track.

What You Will Own

• Lead commercial and industrial electrical projects from estimating turnover through final closeout.
• Review estimates, drawings, specifications, scopes, exclusions, contracts, and project assumptions before mobilization.
• Develop and execute project plans in coordination with estimating, engineering, field leadership, customers, and general contractors.
• Own project budgets, cost reports, cost-to-complete forecasting, committed costs, billing, labor tracking, change orders, and overall profitability.
• Manage construction schedules, manpower requirements, procurement, equipment needs, and critical project milestones.
• Coordinate long-lead electrical equipment and materials including switchgear, panels, lighting, controls, feeders, and project-specific electrical systems.
• Manage RFIs, submittals, drawing revisions, correspondence, project documentation, and contract requirements.
• Identify additional scope and ensure changes are documented, priced, submitted, negotiated, tracked, and collected.
• Work closely with superintendents, general foremen, foremen, Project Engineers, field crews, vendors, and subcontractors.
• Monitor labor productivity, cost trends, schedule performance, procurement risks, and project financial health.
• Serve as a primary point of contact with general contractors, owners, construction managers, vendors, inspectors, and internal leadership.
• Resolve field, design, customer, procurement, manpower, schedule, and project issues before they materially affect performance.
• Coordinate billing, financial reconciliation, commissioning, punch-list completion, closeout documentation, and final project delivery.
• Lead and mentor Project Engineers, Assistant Project Managers, or other project-support personnel when applicable.
• Maintain strong customer relationships while protecting scope, schedule, margin, and contractual requirements.

Must-Have Requirements

• Proven commercial or industrial electrical construction project management experience working directly for an electrical contractor.
• Experience personally managing electrical construction projects in approximately the $5M to $10M+ range.
• Experience owning projects from estimating turnover and kickoff through procurement, construction, billing, commissioning, punch, and final closeout.
• Strong experience managing project budgets, forecasting, labor performance, committed costs, billing, change orders, procurement, and final profitability.
• Experience leading project teams and coordinating Project Engineers, Assistant PMs, superintendents, general foremen, foremen, field labor, vendors, and subcontractors.
• Strong technical understanding of commercial electrical construction, including power distribution, switchgear, panels, conduit, wire, feeders, lighting, controls, equipment coordination, and installation sequencing.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and a significant volume of project work without losing control of cost, schedule, documentation, or customer communication.
• Strong experience working directly with general contractors, owners, construction managers, vendors, subcontractors, inspectors, and field leadership.
• Strong change-order management experience, including identifying scope changes, documenting additional work, pricing changes, submitting and negotiating change orders, and protecting project margin.
• Experience managing long-lead equipment, electrical gear, material procurement, submittals, RFIs, construction schedules, manpower requirements, and project milestones.
• Strong leadership, communication, organization, problem-solving, financial management, and follow-through.
• Ability to work regularly with the Orange County office, project sites, customers, and field teams.

Preferred Experience

• Dry utility and underground electrical construction experience, including underground infrastructure, utility coordination, duct banks, conduit systems, vaults, pull boxes, handholes, or similar scopes.
• Ground-up commercial or industrial electrical construction experience.
• Experience managing multiple $5M to $10M+ projects or a substantial annual book of work.
• Experience leading Project Managers, Assistant PMs, Project Engineers, or multiple project teams.
• Design-build electrical construction experience.
• Experience working with in-house engineering, constructability reviews, value engineering, budgeting, and preconstruction.
• Existing relationships with Southern California general contractors, owners, construction managers, vendors, or subcontractors.
• Prior field experience as an electrician, journeyman, foreman, general foreman, superintendent, or similar electrical field role.
• Experience with warehouse, industrial, ground-up, mixed-use, office, healthcare, retail, education, commercial TI, or similar electrical projects.
• Experience using Bluebeam, Excel, Outlook, Word, PDF/takeoff tools, or electrical estimating/project management systems.
• Prior exposure to AccuBid, McCormick, ConEst, Trimble, or similar electrical construction software is helpful.

Base compensation range: $130,000 to $175,000, based on experience and level.
