Job summary

Milhouse Engineering and Construction, Inc. is seeking a Project Financial Controls Manager to lead the Controls team and ensure profitable delivery across projects. You will validate project setups in Deltek, oversee forecasting and financial reviews, and drive corrective actions where needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years in project controls, project finance, FP&A for project-based business.
• Experience leading a team and coordinating multiple project reviews.
• Knowledge of Deltek Vantagepoint/Vision or similar ERP and strong Excel/reporting skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the Project Financial Controls team and assign project validation and financial review coverage.
• Approve project setups and structural changes in Deltek, including contract type, billing structure, rates, fees, revenue method, budgets, phases/tasks, and key financial assumptions.
• Establish and maintain standards for forecasting, reviews, invoice validation, controls docs, audit support, and recurring reporting.
• Review project P&Ls including revenue, labor, subconsultants, overhead, margins, burn, backlog, EAC/ETC.
• Evaluate contract structures (T&M/cost-plus vs lump-sum) for financial risk.
• Review high-risk projects, margin deterioration, revenue leakage; guide staffing and scope decisions.
• Translate findings into actionable recommendations for PMs and Group Leaders.
• Ensure invoices pass Controls validation; resolve exceptions before PM approval.
• Lead controls review of % complete and monthly project financial meetings; update Deltek accordingly.
• Provide training to Controls staff and project teams on forecasting and profitability best practices.
• Drive continuous improvement in controls and governance using project performance data.
