Job summary

Mortenson is seeking an experienced Project Financial Controls Specialist to apply cost control procedures and analysis to projects. You will support and train team members in the Project Financial Management (PFM) system and related software.

Responsibilities include implementing cost control functions, producing metrics, and providing training on PFM updates. Strong Excel and ERP experience are preferred, with a focus on accuracy and collaboration across teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Business Management, Finance, or related field.
• Minimum of three years’ experience in construction management preferred.
• Minimum of three years’ experience with cost management and financial control practices.
• Experience using Oracle E-Business Suite or similar ERP system is preferred.
• Strong Excel skills; macro development is a plus.
• Experience with project cost issue management and change management.
• Experience with estimating, budgeting, and financial projections.
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Strong teamwork, communication, problem-solving, and leadership abilities.
• Positive, professional attitude and customer service orientation.

Responsibilities

• Implement and administer project financial cost control functions.
• Communicate with project teams on PFM development, application, and training.
• Maintain effective cost control practices in line with Mortenson policies.
• Produce cost control performance metrics for leadership.
• Provide teams with knowledge to meet budget and forecast goals.
• Support teams with PFM updates and enhancements.
• Provide functional technical expertise for system releases.
• Test, validate and maintain test plans.
• Prioritize system enhancements to maximize operational benefit.
• Coordinate enhancements with other business groups.
• Recreate and document errors and enhancements.
• Provide communication to operations.
