Job summary

Pape-Dawson Engineers is seeking a Project Engineer (P.E.) to lead technical design and engineering execution on transportation and water projects in Plano, TX. The role demands ownership of deliverables from concept to final design while ensuring accuracy, constructability, and regulatory compliance.

You will mentor junior staff, coordinate across disciplines, interact with clients and public agencies, and balance quality, budget, and schedule.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) license.
• Minimum of 4 years of progressive engineering experience.
• Proficiency with engineering design and analysis software.
• Strong written and verbal communication and leadership skills.
• Ability to lead technical work and coordinate across disciplines.
• Availability for Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM with occasional overtime.

Responsibilities

• Lead and produce complete engineering designs, plans, specifications, reports, calculations, and estimates.
• Evaluate design alternatives balancing quality, constructability, cost, and schedule.
• Coordinate technical work with project managers, subconsultants, and stakeholders.
• Review work by engineers, EITs, designers, and technicians.
• Prepare and review technical reports using standard engineering tools.
• Support delivery by identifying technical risks and ensuring schedule/budget adherence.
• Mentor junior staff and engage with professional organizations.
• Lead water distribution and wastewater system design; perform hydraulic modeling.
