Job summary

Emerson Tool Company in St. Louis, MO is seeking a Project Engineer to join an international design team delivering new product development from concept to production and sustaining engineering for existing lines.

You will lead cross-functional teams, define requirements with product managers, industrial designers, and manufacturing, and drive prototypes, testing, and validation in a hands-on environment that values patentable contributions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
• A minimum of 3 years of related engineering and development experience.
• Experience with 3D modeling/drafting/CAE.
• High level of communication skills both verbal and written.
• Able to travel up to 10% domestically and internationally.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States - sponsorship will not be provided for this role.

Responsibilities

• Work in a multi-functional environment with product managers, industrial designers, marketing, sales and operations to define product requirements and develop final solutions.
• Conduct research and development activities to explore new technologies and incorporate them in products.
• Conceive ideas, create concepts, and design, prototype, and develop innovative solutions to enhance existing products or processes, ensuring they meet performance and quality standards.
• Stay up to date with the latest advancements and trends in the field through continuous learning and competition analysis.
• Assist in the development and execution of intellectual property strategies, including patent applications.
• Establish project budgets, plan staffing and schedule projects to meet required completion dates with efficiency while using engineering resources.
• Review, evaluate and report project status in written and verbal form on a regular basis; recommend changes in procedures or objectives as required.
• Identify, analyze, and implement cost reductions.
• Provide support to sustaining engineering to maintain current products /resolve production issues.
• Monitor prototype construction, laboratory testing, and agency testing/approvals during evolution of the product design.
• Use of various hand and full-size power tools.
