Job summary

CannonDesign is seeking an experienced electrical engineer to join a multi-disciplinary team on healthcare, education, and corporate projects. You will lead electrical system design, develop construction documents, and guide junior staff during design and review phases.

The role requires a US-licensed PE, 8+ years of experience, and strong knowledge of Life Safety Codes. Expect collaboration with architects and clients, occasional travel, and a commitment to high-quality outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 8 years of related experience required.
  • Current PE in the United States required.
  • LEED accreditation preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of Life Safety Codes
  • Ability to work independently in all electrical disciplines with no oversight or guidance.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be a critical thinker.
  • Must be highly analytical.
  • Must have the ability to engage effectively with clients.
  • Must be a fully qualified professional able to perform work with a high degree of latitude, with some ambiguity in work.
  • Able to effectively handle multiple projects.
  • Experience in computer applications for engineering design programs (i.e. Revit, AGI32, Visual, SKM Power Tools) required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform electrical engineering systems design for building construction and initiate project designs.
  • Participate or lead project teamwork planning sessions.
  • May serve as project manager or project engineering leader and lead engineering meetings.
  • Assume project engineering responsibilities and adhere to financial and work goals.
  • Design lighting, power distribution, signaling, communications and/or telecommunication systems for healthcare, education/higher education and commercial clients per applicable codes.
  • Prepare construction documents including drawings and specifications and guide team members.
  • Complete quality control checks of engineering documents.
  • Participate or lead value engineering sessions with Architectural/Engineering team.
  • Review and markup of shop drawings and submittals; respond to RFIs and review change orders.
  • Conduct site visits to verify conditions and observe construction progress; attend construction meetings.
  • Travel required.
