Job summary

IES is seeking a Project Cost Analyst to support project teams with timely, accurate and meaningful financial information. The role covers financial project management, project accounting, forecasting, and internal controls development to ensure compliance with accounting standards and company practices.

The PCA will review budgets, analyze variances, assist cash flow, and participate in cost review meetings, aiming to maintain profitability across projects while meeting deadlines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA/CMA preferred.
• 5+ years of accounting and finance experience on large projects $2M+.
• Experience with general ledger and month-end/year-end close.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; multi-tasking ability.
• Advanced user of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, MS Project).
• Experience with creating financial statements.
• Experience with customer interface.
• Self-starter in fast-paced environment.
• Ability to travel within branch/regional territory.

Responsibilities

• Plans for, manages, monitors and maintains project profitability to achieve Company goals.
• Works with project accounting to ensure costs post correctly to the ledger.
• Manages all project cost accounting, inventory accounting and revenue recognition.
• Routinely participates in cost review meetings with project team.
• Coordinates and directs the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances.
• Coordinates and prepares the monthly/quarterly forecast reports.
• Researches technical accounting issues for compliance.
• Supports month-end and year-end close process.
• Ensures quality control over financial transactions and reporting.
• Collaborates with project personnel to prepare all required project reporting.
• Creates, develops and implements account process improvement(s).
• Handles other responsibilities as assigned.
