Job description

Job Summary:

The Project Cost Analyst will support project teams with timely, accurate and meaningful financial information. The Project Cost Analyst undertakes all aspects of financial project management, project accounting, financial reporting, budget and forecasts preparation, as well as development of internal control policies and procedures. The Project Cost Analyst will review project budget and cost for accuracy, analyze budget variances and potential fee changes and assist in positive cash flow while meeting accounting standards and company best practices.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. The PCA plans for, manages, monitors and maintains project profitability to achieve Company goals.
  2. The PCA works with project accounting to ensure costs are posted to the ledger correctly.
  3. The PCA manages all project cost accounting, inventory accounting and revenue recognition.
  4. The PCA routinely participates in cost review meetings with project team.
  5. The PCA coordinates and directs the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and reports variances.
  6. The PCA coordinates and prepares the monthly/quarterly forecast reports.
  7. The PCA researches technical accounting issues for compliance.
  8. The PCA supports month-end and year-end close process.
  9. The PCA insures quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
  10. The PCA collaborates with project personnel to prepare all required project reporting.
  11. The PCA creates, develops and implements account process improvement(s).
  12. The PCA handles other responsibilities as assigned.
Salary:

Min: USD 75,000.00 per year. Max: USD 85,000.00 per year.

  • The Project Cost Analyst must be self‑motivated, positive in approach, professional and lead others to create, develop and implement project process improvement(s).
  • The Project Cost Analyst must promote the Company culture and mission to all employees, vendors, clients and business partners.
  • The Project Cost Analyst must have proven problem solving skills, critical thinking skills and the ability to effectively read, write and give oral presentation(s).
  • The Project Cost Analyst must be able to travel within branch territory and/or regional territory as needed.
  • The Project Cost Analyst must have the ability to learn Company and customer project management systems.
Education, Certification, License, and Skill Requirements:
  • Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance. Advanced degree in Accounting, CPA or CMA preferred.
  • Must have strong analytical and problem‑solving skills; willingness to accept responsibility for projects/processes and ability to work with limited direct supervision, highly‑motivated, resourceful.
  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously.
  • Must have prior working experience as a project cost analyst.
  • Must be a self‑starter with the ability to work in a fast‑paced atmosphere.
  • Must have experience in customer interface, such as liaison between the customer and the Company.
  • Must have 5+ years of overall combined accounting and finance experience on large projects $2M+.
  • Must have experience with general ledger functions and the month‑end/year end close processes.
  • Must have experience with creating financial statements.
  • Must be an advanced user of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and MS Project).
  • Must have excellent accounting software user and administration skills.
  • Prefer project management experience related to ordering materials, P6 Scheduling and Critical Path Methodology.
  • Must meet Company minimum driving standards.
