Job summary

Akima Mission Optimization (AMO) in Herndon, VA is seeking a Project Control Analyst IV to support multiple mid-size projects on a hybrid schedule, with occasional office visits a couple times per week. The role provides project controls support to the project manager and handles CPFF, FFP, LH, and LOE contracts, with the ability to obtain a secret clearance.

The position emphasizes budgeting, financial analysis, cost baselines, and timely reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business is required.
• 8–10 years of related experience with project controls.
• MS Excel proficiency including VLOOKUP, SUMIF, pivots.
• Experience with Federal Government contract types (Cost Plus, T&M, FFP).
• Solid understanding of EACs, ETCs, unbilled analysis, and core project financial concepts.
• Ability to obtain a secret clearance.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; independent and proactive.

Responsibilities

• Assist PMs and operations leads in financial planning, tracking, and reporting.
• Set up projects in Deltek Costpoint via PSF, including funding and rates.
• Develop cost/schedule baselines and budgets; monitor actuals and variances.
• Manage project accounting: A/R, A/P, subcontract payments, and invoicing.
• Prepare monthly forecasts, EACs, and variance analyses.
• Communicate project status monthly to management and stakeholders.
• Ensure timecards accuracy and timely expense reports; monitor burn rate.
• Support contract closeouts and pricing analyses; review contracts and pricing.
