Job summary

Environmental Research Group, LLC (ERG) is seeking a full-time Senior Project Archaeologist to lead CRM projects for federal and state clients across the eastern, midwestern, and southeastern United States. This role blends project management, field direction, report preparation, client coordination, and staff mentorship from kickoff to final deliverable.

Preference is given to candidates near Charlotte, NC, or within a half-day drive; this is a virtual-work-friendly position when not in the

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or a closely related field.
• At least five years CRM experience with field leadership and report writing.
• Experience supervising field crews and managing project deliverables.
• Experience with Phase I survey, Phase II testing, and monitoring.
• Knowledge of Section 106, NEPA, and state guidelines for affected states.
• Strong writing, communication, data analysis, and time management.
• Willingness to travel up to 40% of time.

Responsibilities

• Lead archaeological projects from kickoff to final deliverable.
• Direct Phase I surveys, Phase II testing, and monitoring.
• Coordinate field mobilizations, logistics, and safety.
• Prepare technical reports, regulatory documents, and scopes of work.
• Review field records and GIS data for quality and compliance.
• Mentor junior staff and ensure consistent methods and deliverables.
