Job summary

SOLV Energy, Inc. is seeking a Senior Project Accountant III to lead complex project accounting for construction projects across revenue, costs, and WIP. Hybrid options include San Diego office or remote in the Pacific time zone.

You will mentor teammates, drive process improvements, and partner with project teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance. The role emphasizes advanced GAAP knowledge, complex month-/quarter-/year-end closes, and strong cross-functional collaboration

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business, or related field.
• 6+ years of relevant accounting experience.
• 2+ years at Big Four or Top 10 audit firm or equivalent with complex public-company audits/SOX.
• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, financial reporting, and internal controls.
• Experience with month-end, quarter-end, year-end close, complex journal entries, reconciliations, and audit support.
• Construction/accounting experience (WIP, revenue recognition, owner billing, subcontractor accounting) preferred.
• Ability to analyze complex issues, manage risks, and exercise professional judgment.
• Experience driving process improvement, standardization, or automation for efficiency and control.
• Ability to mentor and review Project Accounting team members.
• Strong cross-functional communication with project teams, Ops, Procurement, Tax, AP, AR, FP&A, and external auditors.
• CMiC and ERP experience; advanced Excel (PivotTables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, SUMIFS).
• CPA, CMA, or CCIFP preferred.
• Pacific or Central time zone preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide accounting and financial oversight for assigned construction projects, including revenue, costs, WIP, commitments, billing, and reporting.
• Serve as primary accounting resource for Project Managers and project teams on complex accounting, billing, cost, revenue, and compliance matters.
• Analyze project results, identify financial risks, and drive resolution of complex issues.
• Review project financial data, contracts, change orders, transactions for accuracy and compliance.
• Perform complex month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities including journal entries and reconciliations.
• Review balance sheet and income statement accounts; investigate discrepancies; resolve complex transactions.
• Support tax accruals and ensure data is reflected in financial reporting systems.
• Identify control gaps and implement improvements to strengthen compliance and reduce audit risk.
• Oversee owner billing requirements and ensure timely preparation of billings and supporting docs.
• Coordinate with AR/AP/Procurement/project teams to resolve billing, payments, collections, and subcontractor issues.
• Assist audit requests, respond to complex inquiries, and support timely completion.
• Develop procedures, templates, checklists, and documentation for consistent execution.
• Provide training and mentoring on project accounting processes and controls.
