Job summary

Aston Carter is seeking a Senior Project Accountant / Billing Specialist to support large-scale construction and capital projects. This fully remote role focuses on invoicing, cost tracking, reporting, and systems management to ensure accurate billing and strong cost visibility throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field.
• At least 3 years of experience in project accounting, construction accounting, billing, or project financial administration.
• Experience supporting large construction, engineering, infrastructure, or capital projects.
• Proficiency with ERP and project accounting systems such as PM Web, Procore, Deltek, Ariba, or similar.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including reporting, pivot tables, lookups, and financial analysis.
• Knowledge of general ledger accounting, reconciliation, accounts payable, journal entries, and job costing.
• Excellent organizational skills with detail-oriented mindset.
• Strong analytical and communication skills; able to collaborate with project teams.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage subcontractor invoicing with detailed review, validation, reconciliation, and tracking.
• Prepare, coordinate, and process client billings aligned with contracts and milestones.
• Monitor budgets, commitments, invoices, and costs; highlight variances for leadership.
• Support cost control activities; report on budget vs. actual, EAC, cash flow, and KPIs.
• Generate and distribute recurring financial and operational reports for stakeholders.
• Utilize ERP and PM tools, including PM Web, Procore, Deltek, Ariba, and MS Office.
• Assist with month-end close, billing reconciliations, accruals, and journal entries.
• Coordinate admin requirements (badging, access requests, document management).
• Support audits, compliance reviews, and job costing for profitability visibility.
