Aston Carter is seeking a Project Accountant for a construction-focused role in Lorton, VA. The position focuses on billing, project accounting, and collections to support steady cash flow across multiple projects.

Responsibilities include invoicing, cost tracking, contract changes, and coordination with internal teams. The role is onsite, with potential for contract-to-hire and competitive hourly pay.

Formación

• Hands-on experience in project accounting within the construction industry.
• Strong proficiency in accounts receivable, invoicing, collections, billing, and claim-related processes.
• Experience with AIA billing and construction-specific billing formats.
• Proficiency with Sage 300 accounting software.
• Strong working knowledge of Procore, with the ability to use it effectively for project and billing activities.
• Ability to update and maintain accounting systems and customer/general contractor databases accurately.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, for reporting, tracking, and data analysis.
• Excellent attention to detail to ensure accuracy in billing, contract entries, and project records.
• Strong communication skills to collaborate with project teams, accounts payable, and external stakeholders.
• Ability to solve problems and resolve billing and collections issues in a timely manner.
• Effective time management skills and the ability to self-manage work with minimal supervision.
• Strong organizational skills to maintain detailed records and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Ability to multi-task effectively and meet numerous deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Responsabilidades

• Generate, audit, and complete all billing functions to ensure timely invoicing and steady cash flow.
• Coordinate with internal departments to confirm billing accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
• Forecast upcoming billable expenditures and track material expenditures for timely payment.
• Prepare draft payment applications and related reports for review and approval.
• Facilitate monthly billing meetings to review project status and outstanding issues.
• Communicate with accounts payable to ensure vendor costs are billed, released, or recorded.
• Maintain invoices, deposits, retainage, and related payment correspondence.
• Manage accounts receivable and external billing processes in line with company standards.
• Prepare and send invoices and billing documents to customers and general contractors.
• Update accounting systems with accurate customer/general contractor data.
• Maintain and update contract and job cost entries to reflect current status.
• Support collections and payables to resolve outstanding balances.
• Maintain knowledge of collection requirements and apply to daily activities.
• Investigate payment delinquencies with stakeholders to resolve issues.
• Monitor retainage allowances and ensure proper tracking and recording.
• Execute contract setup for newly awarded projects in company systems.
• Update project budgets and cost coding to align with terms.
• Maintain contracts, bonds, subcontracts, and related documentation.
• Confirm final project values and proper closeout in accounting systems.
• Track contract changes and report pending changes to stakeholders.
• Process change orders and ensure billable costs are captured and invoiced.
• Track billable costs throughout each project lifetime.
