Isle of Wight County Department of Parks and Recreation is seeking applicants for a full-time Parks & Grounds Attendant. The role involves maintenance of county grounds, landscaping, and parks, plus small engine and equipment maintenance, and opening/closing county facilities.

Responsibilities include mowing, field maintenance, restroom cleaning, event setup, and enforcing park rules. Requires a HS diploma/ GED and at least 1 year of experience; valid driver’s license required; CDL-A and

Qualifications

• Requires a High School Diploma/GED, and one year of work experience.
• Requires a valid driver’s license; CDL-A and Registered Pesticide Technician Licences are preferred.

Responsabilités

• Performs a variety of grounds maintenance activities including mowing, edging, trimming, weeding, pruning, planting, grading, seeding, etc.; operates vehicles, grounds-keeping equipment, power and hand tools.
• Maintains all athletic fields, trails, playground equipment, courts, picnic areas, and other park amenities.
• Cleans park restrooms.
• Enforces all park and park amenity rules.
• Performs snow removal for all County facilities.
• Maintains gravel roads and parking surfaces.
• Assists in the setup of County and parks and recreation special events, and the County Fair.
• Periodically surveys County grounds to determine the condition of grass, shrubs, trees, and facilitates to take appropriate corrective action as necessary.
• Makes recommendations for the landscaping of County grounds, as requested.
• Serves in the functional areas of park operations and athletic field maintenance as required.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
• Observes all approved safety and health policies and procedures pertaining to his/her work activities and performs all work tasks in a safe and healthy manner in accordance with County policy.
