Job summary

Symbotic seeks a dynamic Project Director to lead planning and execution of large-scale automation projects at customer sites. You will manage a team of project managers overseeing a $250M+ portfolio, collaborating with cross-functional leaders to deliver high-value, revenue-generating solutions.

This role blends delivery and build, with responsibility for growing the team, standardizing delivery, and driving continuous improvement across programs and regions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, supply chain, business administration, or related field (MBA preferred).
• Minimum 10 years of project/program management in large-scale, cross-functional environments.
• Minimum 5 years of direct people leadership leading PM teams.
• Proven ownership of programs >$200M with multiple concurrent projects.
• Experience delivering large capital projects in matrixed, customer-facing environments.
• Ability to engage executives, negotiate, and align competing priorities.
• Background in material handling, automation, robotics, or related fields.
• Strong data-driven decision making with metrics and accountability.
• PMP preferred; Lean/continuous improvement experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of project managers on complex automation programs totaling $250M+.
• Scale the organization as demand grows, including hiring and onboarding PMs.
• Oversee delivery performance: scope, schedule, budget, risk, safety, customer satisfaction.
• Act as primary escalation point for customers, vendors, and stakeholders on cost, schedule, quality, or safety.
• Drive standardization and continuous improvement of project delivery with the PMO.
• Proactively identify risks and set action plans to keep projects on track.
• Provide weekly progress updates to Symbotic leadership and clients.
