Job summary

The Department of Homeless Services (DHS) is seeking an Administrative Director of Social Services M-III to oversee program administration, shelter operations, and provider contracts. This senior role focuses on ensuring safe facilities, regulatory compliance, and responsive service delivery for New Yorkers facing homelessness.

Qualifications

• A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and four years of progressively responsible experience, in a large governmental agency, etc., with one year at administrative/managerial level.
• Graduate education may substitute for up to three years of experience as described.
• A valid NYS license as LCSW or LMSW may substitute for three years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Be responsible for the administration of directly operated and/or contracted facilities and ensure safe, well-maintained environments.
• Ensure compliance with mandates, agency standards, and regulatory requirements governing shelter rights and conditions.
• Respond to critical incidents and other significant events affecting clients’ health and safety; conduct routine site visits.
• Oversee program activities and social services to ensure optimal service delivery; evaluate program performance and outcomes; liaise with communities and providers.
