Job summary

Temporal Technologies seeks a Senior Professional Services Engineer to help customers move from design to production-ready execution, establishing delivery patterns and operational standards across environments.

You will co-build workflows, teach production-safe patterns, and guide customers in standing up Temporal Server in production, both cloud and self-hosted, with emphasis on reliability and scalable operations.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering and operating production systems with focus on reliability and incident response.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, failure modes, and scaling tradeoffs.
• Hands-on coding in Go, Java, Python, or TypeScript.
• Experience deploying and operating production services in cloud and self-hosted environments.
• Ability to design and communicate operational standards, including on-call readiness, runbooks, and capacity planning.
• Comfort working directly with customers in high-stakes delivery moments, with a calm and credible approach.
• Strong debugging skills and ability to navigate ambiguity and messy real-world constraints.
• Ability to teach and enable other engineers, not just deliver the work directly.

Responsibilities

• Deliver production-ready Temporal implementations by co-building initial workflows with customer and partner teams.
• Teach production-safe workflow patterns including retries, timeouts, heartbeats, determinism, and versioning.
• Identify and remove early activation blockers before escalations.
• Help customers stand up and operate Temporal Server in production (cloud and self-hosted).
• Define worker deployment, scaling, and guardrails including upgrade strategy and capacity planning.
• Establish observability with metrics, alerts, and dashboards for workflows and servers.
• Create repeatable runbooks, templates, and documentation for improved delivery quality.
• Lead hands-on workshops and training enabling customer engineers to operate independently.
• Own complex delivery issues end-to-end, coordinating with Support and Platform Architects.
• Provide actionable product and engineering feedback based on real-world patterns.
