The Senior Production & Operations Manager for Cooke Aquaculture USA Inc. (Maine) plays a key role in overseeing Atlantic Salmon farming, managing approximately 150 employees, and supervising multiple marine sites. This position entails leading a variety of responsibilities across different operational areas.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Provide overall leadership and direction for Maine seawater salmon farming operations.
- Manage the annual operating and CAPEX budgets, including forecasting and communicating business needs.
- Understand and interpret complex fish farming dynamics, including government regulations, environmental monitoring, site infrastructure, and NGO interactions.
- Support the harvest plan by collaborating with the harvest manager to ensure efficient execution.
- Lead high-level environmental and regulatory affairs to ensure compliance and sustainability.
- Develop and maintain five-year operational plans aligned with long-term business goals.
- Coordinate smolt transfers for smooth transitions between farming phases.
- Support the corporate fish health strategy and collaborate with fish health professionals.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency.
- Lead and supervise the maintenance team to ensure safe and smooth operations.
- Oversee biological performance indicators to ensure farm productivity and health.
- Represent the company in industry leadership roles, including serving on industry association boards.
- Ensure compliance with industry certification standards and maintain certifications.
- Demonstrate strong leadership, business planning, and interpersonal skills to foster teamwork and stakeholder relationships.
The Senior Production & Operations Manager will have access to internal support across departments such as HR, Feed Management, Nutrition, Fish Health, R&D, Maintenance, Engineering, Logistics, Legal, Accounting, and Business Management. The role involves leveraging these resources to meet operational needs.
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science or equivalent, with an Aquaculture Certificate from an accredited program.
- Minimum of 10 years managerial experience in aquaculture or a related field.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Proven project management skills, with a track record of delivering projects on time and within budget.
- Technical proficiency in relevant software applications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Interpersonal skills in team building, conflict resolution, and goal setting.
- Strong problem-solving abilities focused on practical solutions.
- Relevant education and experience or a combination thereof.
- Candidates must reside in the area they manage.
