The Senior Production & Operations Manager for Cooke Aquaculture USA Inc. (Maine) plays a key role in overseeing Atlantic Salmon farming, managing approximately 150 employees across multiple marine sites. This position involves leading various operational responsibilities.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Providing leadership and strategic direction for Maine seawater salmon farming operations.
- Managing annual operating and CAPEX budgets, including forecasting and communicating business needs.
- Understanding complex fish farming dynamics, including regulations, environmental monitoring, infrastructure, and NGO interactions.
- Supporting harvest planning and collaborating with the harvest manager for efficient execution.
- Leading environmental and regulatory compliance efforts to ensure sustainability.
- Developing and maintaining five-year operational plans aligned with business objectives.
- Coordinating smolt transfers for smooth farming phase transitions.
- Supporting fish health strategies in collaboration with internal and external professionals.
- Implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency.
- Leading maintenance teams to ensure safe and smooth operations.
- Monitoring biological performance indicators to optimize productivity and health.
- Representing the company in industry leadership roles, including industry association boards.
- Ensuring compliance with industry certification standards.
- Demonstrating leadership, business planning, and interpersonal skills to foster team and stakeholder relationships.
The role provides access to internal support departments, including HR, Feed Management, Nutrition, Fish Health, R&D, Maintenance, Engineering, Logistics, Legal, Accounting, and more. The manager is responsible for leveraging these resources to meet operational needs.
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science or equivalent, with an Aquaculture Certificate from an accredited program.
- Minimum of 10 years managerial experience in aquaculture or a related field.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Proven project management experience, with a track record of delivering projects on time and within budget.
- Technical proficiency with relevant software applications.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Interpersonal skills for team building, conflict resolution, and goal setting.
- Strong problem-solving skills with practical solutions focus.
- Relevant education and experience will be considered.
- Candidates must reside in the area they manage.
