Job summary

Alvarez & Marsal in San Francisco seeks a seasoned Product Leader to join the Private Equity Performance Improvement – Technology Industry Group. You will engage in the full lifecycle of deals and portfolio operations, from pre-deal technology reviews to post-deal performance improvements.

Focus on assessing product strategy, roadmaps, and team structures; drive data-driven decision making and support M&A integration with cross-functional partners across software and semiconductor domains.

Qualifications

• 3-5+ years in PM roles such as Product Manager, Group Product Manager, Director of Product, or R&D Strategy/Operations Lead, preferably in mid- to large software or semiconductor companies.
• Exposure to private equity sponsors, portfolio companies, or related transaction/merger integration is a bonus.
• Proven experience in building or evaluating product roadmaps, prioritizing features, and aligning engineering spend with strategic goals; experience contributing to or leading R&D or product assessments, internally or externally.

Responsibilities

• Assess product strategy, roadmap, and portfolio mix to ensure alignment with business objectives and market opportunities; identify gaps, redundancies, and opportunities for rationalization or expansion.
• Complete product feature parity assessments and develop a recommended product integration strategy for M&A activity with competitor companies.
• Assess product team structures, roles, and interaction models to evaluate collaboration, agility, and accountability, and recommend improvements for scaling and efficiency.
• Evaluate KPIs, OKRs, and analytics frameworks that measure product success, customer impact, and ROI; examine decision‑making processes to confirm they are data‑driven and tied to measurable outcomes.
• Evaluate and conduct market analysis, competitive benchmarking, and customer feedback reviews to validate product‑market fit and identify innovation opportunities; assess offerings to determine differentiation and alignment with user and market needs.
