Job summary

Abbott is seeking a Staff Cybersecurity Engineer to lead strategic cybersecurity initiatives across complex product environments and ensure safe, secure products that comply with industry cybersecurity regulations and meet customer expectations.

This role can work remotely within the U.S., collaborating with engineering, PMs, and product teams to drive vulnerability remediation, SBOMs, and governance, while communicating risk insights to executives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, security systems, or related field.
• Hands-on experience leading web, mobile, cloud infrastructure, and product security testing (DAST, SAST, SCA, SBOM tooling).
• Ability to lead multiple complex cybersecurity initiatives with strong organization and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategic cybersecurity initiatives to identify, prioritize, and resolve product security risks.
• Deliver SBOMs, remediation evidence, and security release documentation; drive vulnerability remediation progress.
• Architect remediation strategies and preventive controls across product and supporting applications.
• Validate security fixes via hands-on testing (Burp Suite, Postman) and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Communicate complex security concepts to executives and cross-functional partners.
