Abbott is hiring a Senior Engineering Manager for the Cloud Software Platform Practice, remote within the United States. You will lead a team of cloud software engineers responsible for platform capabilities powering our digital healthcare ecosystem for professionals, patients and caregivers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS or related field or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years of related experience or 6+ with a Master’s degree.
• Leadership approach grounded in humility, curiosity, accountability, and service to the team.
• Experience supporting engineers across multiple product teams or matrixed structures.
• Software engineering experience with cloud-based or distributed systems.
• Ability to coach engineers and foster mentoring.
• Experience with asynchronous messaging and backend processing.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of cloud software engineers by coaching, mentoring, and growth opportunities.
• Model team-first leadership and foster accountability for team outcomes.
• Create an inclusive environment for collaboration, learning, innovation, and respectful challenge.
• Collaborate with the practice to support hiring, onboarding, succession planning, and knowledge-sharing.
• Learn and improve our Go-based healthcare platforms.
• Design and implement services using Go for cloud-based platforms.
• Develop high-volume, low-latency services for a global healthcare platform.
• Collaborate with security teams to design secure solutions.
• Ensure platform performance, reliability, and uptime with high engineering quality.
• Contribute to architectural and operational decisions with leadership.
