Job summary

Boston Dynamics is seeking a Senior Staff, Product Safety Engineer to join the product safety and compliance team. You will provide independent safety assurance for legged robotic systems across the full product lifecycle.

You will develop safety strategies, safety cases, safety requirements, and objective evidence while collaborating with hardware, software, AI/ML, and human-robot interaction teams to ensure robust safety across hardware and software changes.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in product safety or safety-critical fields.
• Experience with V&V, test strategy, acceptance criteria, coverage, and objective safety evidence.
• Knowledge of IEC 61508, ISO 21448/SOTIF, ISO 13849, ISO 62061, EU AI Act.
• Ability to influence cross-functional teams without relying on organizational authority.

Responsibilities

• Provide safety assurance across hardware through the full technical stack (hardware through AI/ML).
• Develop safety strategies, safety cases, safety requirements, and objective evidence across multiple domains.
• Evaluate safety implications of releases, firmware updates, model changes, and hardware revisions.
• Collaborate with Safety Case owners to ensure consistency in safety processes and evidence quality.
