Job summary

Boston Dynamics, Inc. is seeking a Senior Staff Mechanical Engineer to join the Atlas hardware team. You will lead the mechanical design and release from concept to production, ensuring high-quality builds and reliability for next-generation humanoid platforms.

You will guide cross-functional teams, apply GD&T and tolerance analysis, and mentor engineers to advance a production-ready product while managing technical risk and supplier collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Mechanical Engineering.
• 7+ years of electromechanical product design and launch experience.
• Willingness to travel ~10% internationally.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design and release of a commercial product from architecture to manufacturing.
• Drive production excellence with CAD completion, drawing packages, GD&T and tolerance analysis.
• Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturing teams for DFx focusing on assembly, cost, and reliability.
• Mentor and develop engineers, conduct design reviews, and foster an inclusive team environment.
• Manage technical risk using FMEAs, validation planning, and due diligence on moving assemblies (gears, bearings, seals, shafts).
