Job summary

Humana, Inc. is seeking a Senior Product Owner to prioritize and oversee the development team’s work, ensuring maximum value from product outcomes. You will define user stories, clarify requirements, and manage the backlog to align with the strategic vision and releases.

The role requires strong communication, risk management, and the ability to work across multiple Agile teams. Occasional travel to Humana offices may be required; remote work is supported with 40-hour weeks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
• 5+ years representing business or technology in technology implementations and/or product/project management.
• Strong verbal and written communication, organizational, meeting facilitation, negotiation, follow-up, and problem-solving skills.
• Detail oriented with excellent organizational and project management skills.
• Critical thinker who can anticipate team needs and take initiative to present ideas, ask the right questions and deliver the highest quality work.
• Problem solver who can find viable solutions that meets business needs, absent from all ideal tools and resources.
• Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks with concurrent deadlines.
• Self-starter who can work independently.
• Preferred knowledge in quoting, rating, and underwriting
• Certified SAFe Product Owner/ Product Manager or equivalent
• Agile /Scrum certification (Agile Practitioner, Scrum Alliance, etc.)
• Knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
• Prior experience with Agile development process in story writing
• Ability to work with project stakeholders and remote teams at all levels in the organization in a collaborative, team environment
• Knowledge of Systems Development Life Cycle, Waterfall, and/or Agile Development Methodologies

Responsibilities

• Interact day-to-day with the development team and Scrum Master.
• Partner with Product Manager to define and prioritize backlog based on vision/roadmap.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand end-user needs and shape requirements.
• Translate business priorities to technical team via user stories and acceptance criteria.
• Manage risks that could impact delivery success.
• Confirm product quality meets customer needs via acceptance criteria.
• Demonstrate value of product functionality and sprint outcomes.
• Support multiple Agile Delivery Teams.
• Foster relationships between business and IT to deliver high value.
