Job summary

GitLab is seeking a product leader for its Monetization Platform, owning the usage-based billing pipeline across GitLab.com, self-managed, and GitLab Dedicated. You’ll partner with engineering, Finance, Legal, Compliance, and GTM teams to design, instrument, and price consumption while ensuring scalable, reliable pipelines and auditable billing outcomes.

The role emphasizes remote, asynchronous collaboration and shaping pricing models that align with business goals and customer value.

Qualifications

• Must have owned product direction of consumption- or usage-based billing systems.
• Experience with Zuora or similar billing platform and understanding of product-finance interactions.
• Familiarity with prepaid, commitment, or credit-drawdown pricing models and their edge cases in billing.
• Proven track record launching new products or pricing models with cross-functional teams (Engineering, Finance, Legal, Compliance, GTM).
• Ability to bring together teams around launches even when not directly managing them.
• Experience defining problems for platform or backend teams whose users are other teams.
• Clear written communication in an all-remote, asynchronous environment using issues, epics, and direction pages.
• Familiarity with developer tooling, financial audit or revenue recognition is helpful but not required.
• Ability to use AI tools for prototyping, analysis, spec writing, and investigation.

Responsibilities

• Own the product direction for metering, aggregation, and rating in GitLab's usage billing pipeline, including Zuora integrations.
• Make onboarding a new credit-capable feature a repeatable process rather than a bespoke project.
• Partner with product teams on what to instrument, how to meter and price usage across GitLab products, and what it takes to be billable at launch.
• Prioritize pipeline scalability, performance, and reliability as consumption grows.
• Own billing defect detection and remediation to keep invoices accurate and auditable.
• Define and track measures of billing accuracy and pipeline reliability to inform pricing decisions.
