Job summary

BambooHR is seeking a Senior Product Manager for the Payroll Platform, a fully remote role available in Utah. You will own modernization, data-model decisions, and security controls for payroll, balancing old systems with a strategic migration plan.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of product management experience. HCM, payroll, or payroll-adjacent platform experience is strongly preferred.
• Coordinated with downstream consumers at scale: dozens of teams reading one system's contracts.
• Rollout discipline is a reflex: parallel runs, instant rollback, user acceptance testing, and release trains.
• You're technical enough to discuss database schemas, APIs, and migration mechanics with engineers.
• You're comfortable in regulated, sensitive-data domains and treat compliance counterparts as partners.
• You hold evidence standards in a domain full of inherited assumptions: you measure before you assert, and you write decisions down.

Responsibilities

• Own payroll platform modernization: decide moves from old tools to their replacement, and sequence steps to avoid payroll risk.
• Price the cost of keeping old systems running, including escalations and potential missed pay dates.
• Own the payroll data-model redesign and weigh event-driven streaming vs full-resync, validated against canonical entity models.
• Own access and audit discipline: permission granularity, audit posture, least-privilege carve-outs, and deny-by-default rollouts.
• Own compliance and retention for payroll: data retention positions, regulatory changes, and governance-focused audit interfaces.
