Job summary

DMF Lighting, an architectural lighting company based in Carson, CA, seeks a mid-to-senior Product Manager to own the strategy and execution of the downlight portfolio. You will guide market research, bridge engineering and commercial teams, and drive full lifecycle management from concept through end-of-life.

The role demands a technical foundation, strong customer engagement with specifiers and installers, and the ability to travel 20–30% for field work and tradeshows.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; engineering degree (Electrical, Mechanical, or related) strongly preferred.
• 5+ years of product management experience in lighting or building controls/automation.
• Demonstrated ability to translate market and customer insights into actionable product requirements.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration skills; able to work with engineering, sales, operations, and marketing.
• Willingness to travel 20–30% as part of the role.

Responsibilities

• Conduct ongoing competitive analysis across DMF's downlight category; monitor competitor product lines, pricing, and go-to-market strategies.
• Partner with sales and field teams on customer visits and sales calls to understand market needs.
• Attend key industry tradeshows to track industry trends and customer demands.
• Translate market insights into Market Requirements Documents grounded in data.
• Monitor sell-through and portfolio performance to identify gaps and opportunities.
• Own the development and maintenance of Product Requirements Documents for new/updated products.
• Serve as the primary product voice through gate-based development processes.
• Collaborate with engineering to evaluate design trade-offs and keep development on track.
• Travel to customer sites with engineering to diagnose field issues.
• Maintain deep technical understanding of downlight products including optics and dimming.
