Job summary

Molex is seeking a Senior Product Design Engineer to lead and contribute to the design of high-speed connectors, cables, and systems within the Copper Solutions division. You will work across marketing, manufacturing, electrical engineering, quality, and software to deliver robust, manufacturable solutions.

You will perform analyses, mentor junior engineers, and ensure designs meet industry standards and customer requirements while aligning with NPI/PDP processes and global supply chains.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• 8+ years of Product Design Engineering experience in electronic components.
• Experience with welding, stamping, plating, or plastic injection molding/insert molding, and connector and cable harness assembly.
• Experience in leading the design for volume manufactured products.
• Experience in DFM, DFMEA, validation and qualification for high-volume products.
• Experience in working with suppliers and materials selection.
• Experience working with complex supply chain and global manufacturing.
• Working knowledge in Tolerance Analysis studies, Data Analysis, preferably using Excel, Minitab, EZtol and/or Power BI.
• Proficiency in CAD, preferably in NX, Team Center.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of electromechanical products or connectors, ensuring compliance with industry standards and customer requirements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of mechanical components.
• Perform detailed analysis and evaluation of product designs using FEA, DFM, NUDD, and TA.
• Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments to identify design limitations and propose solutions.
• Perform engineering calculations, simulations, and analyses to validate designs.
• Collaborate with vendors to source components, ensuring cost and quality targets.
• Conduct testing and validation of prototypes and implement design improvements.
• Follow NPI and PDP processes to develop new products on time.
• Collaborate with customer engineering during product development lifecycle.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
• Stay updated with industry trends and incorporate innovative technologies.
