Job summary

Molex, a leader in high‑speed connectors and data‑communication solutions, is seeking a Principal Engineer to set design direction for board‑mount and cable assemblies. You will partner with customers and internal teams to translate requirements into actionable, economical products.

You will guide development from concept through production, mentor a design group, and ensure robust, scalable solutions for advancing datacom and telecom applications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• At least 15 years in the connector industry.
• Expertise in contact physics.
• Experience leading new product design efforts.
• Expertise in providing technical direction and coaching to a design team.
• Design expertise in various board launch and wire termination technologies.
• Working knowledge in high density board termination rework process.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of cutting next generation products and components for high-speed cables and connectors.
• Partner with customers, vendors, marketing and sales during pre-production stages of new products.
• Develop and validate new interconnect products, including high‑speed connectors and assemblies for datacom and telecom.
• Create original ideas for new products/solutions and develop them into economical models through feasibility studies.
• Lead engineering design evaluation and design proposals to customers.
• Build prototype samples and perform validation.
• Provide technical support to Operations for efficiency and safe launch; resolve product issues and manage design changes.
• Build a deep understanding of market needs by connecting business and customer engineering teams.
• Maintain system-level understanding of customer applications for solutions.
