Job summary

Clay is a fast-growing AI GTM platform. We are hiring our first Procurement specialist to own the entire vendor negotiation lifecycle, from identifying savings opportunities to driving commercial terms across major contracts.

You will build scalable procurement infrastructure and collaborate across Finance, Legal, and Operations. The role focuses on achieving year-over-year savings, renegotiation opportunities, and strategic sourcing.

Qualifications

• 6-10 years of procurement or strategic sourcing experience with a demonstrable savings track record.
• Expert negotiator with closed complex, high-value SaaS and vendor contracts.
• Deep familiarity with SaaS and AI pricing models and contract structures.
• Comfortable running competitive sourcing events from scratch.
• Strong financial instincts and ability to build financial models.
• Hands-on experience implementing a procure-to-pay or intake platform (Zip, Coupa, or similar).
• Operates independently in ambiguous environments without a ready-made playbook.
• Ability to push back on vendors while maintaining relationships.

Responsibilities

• Own vendor negotiation strategy across major spend categories to drive year-over-year savings.
• Audit existing vendor contracts to identify renegotiation opportunities and upcoming renewals.
• Run RFPs, RFQs, and reverse auctions to benchmark pricing against market rates.
• Lead end-to-end negotiations from opening anchor to signature with focus on price, terms, and rights.
• Build and maintain a savings tracker with realized savings and pipeline for Finance.
• Develop negotiation playbooks by vendor category for renewals.
• Work with Legal to redline MSAs, order forms, and DPAs to avoid bottlenecks.
• Track renewal calendars and market benchmarks to prevent auto-renewals without review.
• Evaluate, select, and implement a procurement intake platform (Zip, Ramp) and define workflows.
• Own integration between procurement tooling, ERP, and Ramp for clean PO, approvals, and invoicing flows.
• Build spend reporting and dashboards showing committed spend, open POs, savings, and renewal pipeline.
