Job summary

Cenovus Energy is hiring a Senior Staff Process and Technical Safety Engineer to lead the US region's process safety competency and support policy development across US operations. The role also partners with Canadian counterparts to strengthen Cenovus' overall PSM expertise.

The ideal candidate will have 16+ years in process safety, with 10+ years in Oil & Gas, and possess strong leadership in HAZOP/LOPA/HAZID studies and PHAST modelling to drive safety across refineries and projects.

Qualifications

16+ years in Process Safety roles or related disciplines.
10+ years in Oil & Gas/Petrochemicals preferred.
Experience leading multiple complex HAZOPs and MOCs.
Familiarity with API, NFPA, CCPS codes and US regulations.
Experience with Fire Hazard Analysis techniques and barrier concepts.

Responsibilities

Lead Process Safety as a US competency, including methodology and policy representation.
Develop and train Process Safety Engineers in Cenovus risk methodology.
Deliver and maintain a risk-training suite for site personnel.
Champion key risk standards and oversee audits in the PSM space.
Coordinate third-party studies and ensure PSM program effectiveness.
