Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Senior Process Safety Engineer to join our HSE department in Randburg, Gauteng. You will lead PHAs (HAZOP), implement LOPA and SIL assessments, and drive risk reduction for oil and gas operations.

You will investigate incidents, develop PSM programs, ensure regulatory compliance, review designs, and train personnel. Strong analytical skills, stakeholder influence, and on-site availability are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in process safety engineering, preferably within the oil and gas industry.
• Certification such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead and facilitate Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), including HAZOP studies.
• Develop and implement Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA) and Safety Integrity Level (SIL) assessments.
• Conduct risk assessments and develop risk mitigation strategies for operational facilities.
• Investigate process safety incidents, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
• Develop and maintain Process Safety Management (PSM) programs and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with relevant process safety regulations and industry standards.
• Review engineering designs and P&IDs for process safety implications.
• Develop and deliver process safety training to operational personnel.
• Champion a proactive safety culture throughout the organization.
• Monitor KPIs for process safety and report on safety performance.
