Job summary

Mesh Optical Technologies in Gardena, CA is seeking a Senior Process Engineer to own the development and qualification of wafer prep and die-level packaging processes from R&D through production ramp. You will help build high-volume semiconductor packaging processes in the US and partner with cross-functional teams.

The role requires MS/PhD in a relevant field and extensive hands-on experience in semiconductor packaging, with a track record in process qualification and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• MS or PhD in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or similar.
• Extensive hands-on semiconductor process-development experience.
• Strong troubleshooting skills in semiconductor packaging or advanced manufacturing environments.
• Experience qualifying processes such as flip-chip bonding, wafer processing, plasma cleaning, and wire bonding.

Responsibilities

• Own development of wafer prep and die-level packaging processes: bumping, dicing, sub-micron bonding, optical alignment, flip-chip die bonding, wire-bonding, dispense, automated final assembly.
• Own tool selection, materials selection, recipe development, and SPC limits to transfer processes from R&D to production.
• Translate package designs into high-volume production processes and collaborate with design teams for manufacturing.
• Design production processes from lab to concept to ramp.
• Establish process limits and feedback constraints as design rules for teams.
• Characterize parts with x-ray, FIB/SEM, CSAM, and die shear testing in collaboration with design teams.
• Act as technical owner for failure-analysis findings, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
• Push process yields above 99.9% and ensure reliability during long-term qualification.
• Provide technical mentorship to build high-volume semiconductor packaging in the US.
